I am a young woman, born in Ontario but presently residing in the beautiful city of Halifax, Nova Scotia. I have been a lifelong lover of animals, and have been driven to fight for whales since my teens, when I discovered the truth about the conditions at Marineland, Canada. A simple curiosity of “What happens to the whales in the winter?” became a Google search that uncovered the story of Junior, and the Marineland warehouse in which he lived. Unable to get the haunting idea of an “unwanted” whale trapped in concrete isolation out of my mind, I took it upon myself to find out everything I could about what really happens to the whales that live in captivity. With this blog, I hope to share some of what I have discovered in the hopes of inspiring others to join the fight to change the future of these beautiful animals. Things are changing fast, perceptions are evolving as the reality and the truth becomes more clear and widely accepted. Now is the time for change and I feel now is the time that we can make a difference if enough people join the chorus of voices fighting for these animals and what they deserve.
